An inspiring coach, astute business person, generous friend and loving husband, father and grandfather are some of the ways the community has described Tony Britton. He dedicated more than 40 years to youth development and community interaction, which saw him named 2014 Citizen of the Year.

In March 2014 Tony lost his battle with Mesothelioma, a rare and currently incurable cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Tony’s son Mat has since founded ‘Trail To Triumph: Tony’s Journey’.

Tarkine was founded by Australian runners Sam Burke and Ross Johnson. They were disgruntled with the state of the shoe industry, full of fads and disinformation, highly wasteful to the environment, and dominated by multi-billion-dollar stock listed companies. They decided it was time to show that a start-up out of Australia was capable of changing the game, of setting new trends, of creating shoes that rival and exceed those of its huge competitors with considration for the environment at the forefront. 

The Trail Running Association of Queensland (TRAQ) is a non for profit organisation formed in 2006TRAQ’s vision is to be an association that is respected through supporting trail runners and other associations and clubs, through events with competitors engaging in trail running events in the community across Queensland.
