Tour de Trachyte

Where

Staged between the Woodford and Beerburrum sections of the Glasshouse Mountains plantations, the 'Tour de Trachyte' takes in a mix of forest trail, narrow track and a few other bits and pieces thrown in for good measure.

This is the second in a series of duathlon events that AAA Racing will be hosting through 2019.  You can choose any event to run/ride solo or as a team (male, female or mixed) as well as relay teams (one runner, one rider - open - conditions will apply). There's nothing super technical for any level of cyclist or runner, but plenty that will challenge the most avid mountain bikers and trail runners alike.  There's a challenge for everyone available, for ages from 8 through to 108!

When

February 16th, 2019

Participants will take their bikes to T1 which is situate on Millwood Road (https://goo.gl/maps/rk4y1K7c7ws), just 2.5 km from the Glasshouse Mountains lookout, before heading to the start and parking along connection road adjacent to the start. The start/finish area is just a few hundred metres around the corner from the Lookout (https://goo.gl/maps/uCRnVDEGu872).

On the day:

  • Three aid stations/checkpoints

    • One at T1

    • One at T2

    • One at approximately halfway around Leg 5

  • Free BBQ at the start finish are

  • Basic mechanical support at T1 then T2 provided by MB Cycles

  • Sign-in and parking

    • Sign in is at the start/finish area after racking your bike 3 km along Woodford-Lookout Rd. Located around the corner from the Glass House Mountains lookout, on Connection Rd (https://goo.gl/maps/uCRnVDEGu872)

    • Parking will be along the verges along the beginning of Connection Rd. Park behind the first car you see as the distance from base will be directly proportionate to the time you arrive. Driving past a row of parked cars will simply see you having to turn around.  Allow time for an 500 metre walk to the registration area if you plan on arriving later in the day.

  • Mandatory kit

    • All cyclists must wear a cycling helmet - not optional under any circumstances

    • Please familiarise yourself with the course map and course directions, both of which can be found on this page. (maybe print off the map and carry a copy if you’re unsure of directions)

    • Hydration (bottle or pack) - minimum of 600 ml capacity

    • Emergency whistle

    • Access to a map of the course - either by mobile device or printed map (available from this page)

    • Mobile phone (most areas or the course have coverage and having a phone means you can relocate to an area that has coverage if that’s not the case)

    • Race directors contact added to phone, Hopefully you won't need it, but if you do, you'll be glad of it

AAA racing accept it in good faith that the mandatory list is adhered to by participants, though there will be spot checks on course
