The Hill Climb Challenge

  • Wild Horse Mountain, Beerburrum

  • Springer Hill, Mt Pleasant Heights, Dayboro

  • The Big Dipper, Glasshouse Mountains, Woodford

Why not?!  It's all about the 'vert’, right?  Well, not always (ask anyone who ran the BVRT100 last year!).  The most often asked question about a course at a new or existing event is, ‘What’s the ascent?’ or ‘How much vert is there?’ - just as often asked with trepidation as opposed to anticipation. Well, the HCC has plenty but on three very different routes.

Round 1 - Hilloween at the The Jerry Springer, Dayboro

Saturday, January 18th-19th

The stiffest climb of the three rounds is undertaken through natural bush with a  2.5 km ascent and return) and subsequently 200 metres of ascent/descent (8,000 metres/100 km!).

Full refund for hitting 50 miles in the 12 hour or 50km in the 6 hour. Earlier in 2019, Tony Williams of Blue Mountains Fitness managed 23 laps in 10 hours to cover 57.5 km and 4,600 metres of climbing to set the bar high for the next event and the next visit to Dayboro in!

On to Round 2.

Round 2 - Wild Horse Mountain, Beerburrum

Saturday, February 22nd

Wild Horse Mountain is the venue for the final round of the HCC and is immediately adjacent to the Bruce Highway.  It's the only round of the three where you may come across members of the public taking in the view so you'll have a keen audience!  Not the toughest of the three rounds, but also not to be underestimated with approximately 95 metres of ascent and descent and a round trip of 1.4 km, it will pack a punch at 6,300 metres 100 km if you like stats.

Round 3 - The Jerry Springer, Dayboro

Saturday, March 14th

Round three sees us back at the Jerry Springer - the bar is set high with Ryan Crawford having completed 25 laps within cut-off (and another just a minuted over) for 62.5 km.

Plenty know what this course is about now and, though typically a small group, everyone enjoys the event and there's always room for more!

Full refund for hitting 50 miles in the 12 hour or 50km in the 6 hour.
